Introduction to the I-Ching
A workshop with author Timothy Liu
The I-Ching (or Book of Changes) is perhaps the oldest divinatory guide around, going all the way back to the advent of writing some 5000 years ago. Many versions have followed through the millenia, finally making their way to the West in the middle of the 20th Century. This workshop will give a historical overview, from the contributions of King Wen and his son King Wu to the Confucian commentaries found in the “Ten Wings.” We will then take a closer look at the structure and meaning of the eight trigrams and the sixty-four hexagrams that comprise the I-Ching before consulting the Oracle itself. Newcomers and seasoned practitioners are welcome. Feel free to bring coins, yarrow sticks, and any favorite editions you may already own of this marvelous work.

Cost: $20 if registered and prepaid by Feb. 2nd; $25 if registering after the 2nd.
