The Voice as Spiritual Practice
A Workshop with sound healer Peter Blum
The voice is the bridge between spirit and matter. The throat center connects the heart and mind. Voice has been used as a vehicle for healing, meditation, and as a spiritual practice around the world since time immemorial. In this workshop we will cover a number of approaches and techniques from different cultures, including toning vowel sounds; mantra - starting with the Mahamantra of Aum; “magical voice” (harmonic singing); and spirit songs - a chance to make intentional sounds as a community. Learn practices that can be used on a regular basis.

Cost: $20 if registered and prepaid by Mar. 2nd; $25 if registering after the 2nd.

Teacher Bio: Peter Blum has been a musician all of his life, and has been involved in the field of sound healing for over 30 years. The son of an operatic baritone, he has always been fascinated with the power of the human voice, and has studied extended vocal techniques with Jill Purse, David Hykes, Timothy Hill, and Professor Odzerin (teacher at the Mongolian College of Throat Singing). Peter has an active practice as a hypnotherapist and often combines his sound work with hypnosis. As a performer, his sound bath events are well known both locally and across the country.
